Ty and Brandi met online through the website OKCupid in 2015. Ty said hello to Brandi, they talked online for awhile and eventually met in person at Capital Ale House in downtown Richmond. Brandi was about an hour late because her hair would not set into natural curls. Ty patiently waited even though she kept texting that she would be there in 20 minutes.

Most Thursday evenings, Ty and Brandi try to find a 2 for $20 dinner. Ty suggested Capital Ale House for dinner and Brandi agreed. They caught up with each other on the details of their work week and Ty suggested they walk around a bit. Brandi thought it was a great idea because she and Laighla had just started playing Pokemon GO! on her cell phone. Brandi was irritated because she wanted to catch Pokemon Balls and Ty was not keeping up on this humid August evening. Ty eventually sat down at Kanawha Park and said he was tired. Brandi said they could take a short break and refused to sit down. He asked her to sit down and she eventually did...at that moment Ty pulled out the ring!
