How We Met

Two Ships Passing in the Night

It’s funny how life works out...We visited the same events, used the same vendors, and even shared a mutual friend but never met. We were literally, “Two ships passing in the night.” Our mutual friend tried to introduce us for months but was unsuccessful; both of us making excuses why we did not want to! One day after another request from our mutual friend I agreed to meet Ty. When we were finally introduced, Ty was getting her hair done; man the door opened & I realized her weave was half done. I was completely in shock at first, but after talking for a bit she got up to walk to the mirror it was then I saw that wagon and thought wait this could be worth it! My weave was definitely half in and I was not ashamed. I thought, well hey she might as well see the real me! Plus she is only 23 this won’t go anywhere; clearly I was wrong! We laughed and joked for a second. Then I got straight to business... Do you have: Kids? Ex-Wives? A Job? A Place of Residence? A car? A large savings? Ok I’m kidding about the last one!! Tori answered each question like a champ...I was intrigued! We exchanged numbers and the rest is history...

The Proposal

Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favorite.

We all know Ty was famous for her engagement woes but little did she know, I had already purchased a ring that was hidden in plain sight. The funny thing was every time she would make a comment about not being engaged, our friends and family would laugh. The day I asked Ty’s mom for her daughter’s hand in marriage I was so nervous. I wasn’t necessarily scared of the response that I would get but more so of the questions that she would have lined up for me; thank god she spared me! As it got closer to the special day I began checking the weather, hoping it wouldn’t rain. I had booked a small yacht for us and a few friends. Ty thought we were celebrating her best friend’s birthday but it was much more than that! Stepping on to the boat, acting as normal as possible, my heart was beating through my chest. The music was playing and the cameras were flashing, she still had no clue it was all for her. We set sail enjoying the water with friends and libations. As we got closer to our destination, how ironic that “our” song came on. Having a moment, we sang to each other as if no one else was around. A champagne toast was prepared “A toast to happiness and a LONG life ahead of us!” She still had no clue! Exiting the boat, I must of asked her a thousand times to switch her shoes from flats to heels but it was only to separate us from the group. As we approached the pier where our family and friends were waiting. She burst into tears! The circle parted allowing her to step in and view our picture scroll. Once she made her way to the top I was down on one knee, about to pop the question and she says “where’s my mommy and sister”. That was her #1 rule and of course they were there. Still down on my knee I asked her to Marry Me and here we are now ready to walk down the aisle! Welcome to OUR LOVE STORY
