How we met

Answer

We met at SPOP (Student Parent Orientation Program) as incoming freshmen at UCI. Dani was with her volleyball girls and Ty was with his water polo teammates. We were all student-athletes and also the tallest people in the room, so naturally, we all gravitated towards each other. We were close friends to start, and starting dating during our second semester freshmen year.

Who said "I Love You" first?

Answer

We both don't remember who said it first, Dani thinks she did, but it definitely could've been Ty. Either way, we both agree we felt it at the same time.

Who Met the Parent's First?

Answer

Ty met Dani's parents first when he was invited over to make tamales with her family. They weren't dating yet, but he technically met them first.

Where was your first date?

Answer

We had been on a few very casual dates, but for our first "official" date Ty picked Dani up from her parent's house in Mission Viejo and brought her a bouquet of flowers. We drove up PCH and ate dinner at Dukes in Huntington Beach! It was perfect.

What was the most memorable date night you've had? -Dani

Answer

There are a few so Ty and I decided to answer this separately. The most memorable date night for me (besides our first date) was when we went to the Laguna Playhouse for a show, and we were selected as game night "Compatability" contestants. We were pulled up on stage by a woman dressed as a nun and she asked us relationship questions that we answered (while sitting back to back) on stage. We ended up actually winning the contest and beat the married couple we were up against. We had audience members coming up to us afterward telling us we should get married and how they could tell how in love we were. It was so sweet and definitely one for the memory books.

What was your most memorable date night you've had? -Ty

Answer

Every date I have with Dani is memorable because we’re both able to make each other laugh uncontrollably and make any situation together fun. One moment I really love to look back on though was on our fifth anniversary trip to San Diego, on our way back from dinner we decided to skip the Uber and try our luck with Byrd scooters. We had an incredible time scoot scooting through downtown San Diego, just busting up laughing. I can’t wait for her to be my scooter buddy forever.

How Ty proposed!

Answer

Dani: I thought we were celebrating Ty's birthday which was a few days away and we had decided to spend our day bar hopping and just having a great time. We went for lunch at Circle Hook in the Lido Village and bar hopped our way down the peninsula on bikes. We eventually made it to the wedge (which is my favorite spot) around sunset. Obviously Ty had planned the whole thing, but I still had no idea what was going on. We walked on the beach and that's when he explained that we weren't there to celebrate his birthday...and dropped to one knee! I think I was in shock because the only thing I remember saying is "put it on my finger". The next thing I notice is people walking towards us in wigs, fake beards, and zebra print pants. Our families had decided to hide in plain sight with disguises! It was perfect.
