It all started with a swipe. In the winter of 2021, Shannon decided the break she needed from finals studying was online dating. Countless of swipes later a cute boy with a little geriatric white dog in his profile liked her photo. Chats became texts, and texts led to their first Zoom date (thanks, COVID) where they bonded over their shared love of The West Wing and how they both began watching the show on season two. Though Tyler had since watched the entire show 3x, Shannon had never went back to watch the first season. Date #2 was starting from episode 1 together. 4.5 years later they finally finished watching the show through and have since restarted from the beginning, and plan to repeat the cycle again and again. On April 20th, 2021, they made it official, and 1 month later I love yous were said (Tyler first!). Their life together in Chicago since has been filled with endless coffee walks, sushi takeout, and day trips to their favorite shared place- western Michigan. September of 2023 under the guise of a weekend birthday trip for Shannon, Tyler proposed at their favorite spot- Oval Beach in Saugatuck, Michigan. They spent a perfect day together shopping and eating through South Haven and Saugatuck, then Tyler capped off the day with the sweetest sunset proposal. (Special thanks to Kirst and Jake for waiting for hours in the bushes of the beach for us to finish dessert so they could capture the moment). Now, Shan and Ty are counting down the days to celebrate their love with all their favorite people, and cannot wait to meet everyone in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania this summer!
