The Mariners' Museum and Park
Day-of the wedding, all guests receive complimentary admittance to the Mariners' Museum! Tell the front desk that you're with our wedding! The 6-mile loop around Lake Noland in the park adjacent to the museum is also highly recommended. Lion's Bridge has wonderful views at sunset (or any time of day)!
Toast the Coast
If you're into it, Coastal Virginia has a ton of great breweries, wineries, and distilleries! Toast the Coast has compiled a lot of them on one convenient website, but some of our favorites are Precarious Beer Hall, Billsburg Brewing, Frothy Moon Brewhouse, and Copper Fox Distillery in Williamsburg; Sly Clyde's Ciderworks and Oozlefinch Beers & Blending in Hampton; and Tradition Brewing Company, Coastal Fermentory, and Ironclad Distillery in Newport News.
Outlook Beach
This is Sara's favorite beach on the peninsula. You can usually find parking at the baseball diamond across from Fort Monroe itself. It is also right next door to some amazing spots like Oozlefinch Beers & Blending, Sly Clyde's Ciderworks, Stuft, and El Diablo Loco Cantina.
Virginia Living Museum
The Virginia Living Museum is a great place for all ages, though it's geared towards children. They have a variety of animals at the museum and a rotating exhibit (currently dinosaurs).
Colonial Williamsburg
The exhibits in Colonial Williamsburg marked by flags are paid areas; however, it's completely free to walk around, peruse the gardens, and visit the shops and restaurants in Merchant's Square!
