When and where is the wedding?

We’re getting married in beautiful San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico on May 16, 2026 at Casa Olimpo. The reception will take place nearby at Posada Beach.

San Carlos holds a special place in our hearts. It’s where Julia spent her childhood vacations and its a place that’s always felt like pure joy. Now bringing all of our favorite people here to celebrate makes it even more special.

What’s the best way to get to San Carlos?

Answer

The closest airport is Hermosillo International (HMO) — about 1.5 hours away. As a thank you for travelling all this way, we will be organizing and covering all transportation throughout the weekend.

Is it safe to travel to this area of Mexico?

Answer

San Carlos has been a cherished destination for our family and close friends for over 40 years without any incident, always feeling safe and welcoming. While no location is completely risk-free, San Carlos's unique peninsula geography provides a sense of seclusion and tranquility. As with any travel, we recommend exercising standard precautions: respect local customs, stay aware of your surroundings, and follow local laws. To ensure our guests' comfort and safety, we've carefully planned transportation for the entire wedding weekend, including airport transfers. Our chosen accommodations are within trusted, gated communities, and we'll provide detailed driving instructions for those who prefer to self-navigate. For added security, we suggest traveling during daylight hours whenever possible.

Beachy formal. Think light, breathable fabrics in neutral tones or fun, colorful tones or prints.

Where should we stay?

Answer

We will share details on assigned villa rentals after the RSVPs are settled. If a hotel/private space is preferred, we recommend Marinaterra Hotel.

What time should I arrive on the wedding day?

Answer

Please plan to arrive by 3:45 PM, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 PM with a cocktail party, dinner, and dancing to follow.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We are intentionally keeping our wedding a very intimate celebration and we kindly ask that only those guests specifically named on your invitation attend. We appreciate your understanding.

What’s the weather like in San Carlos in May?

Warm, sunny, and breezy! Typically in the mid-80s °F (around 30 °C) with cool evenings by the water, perfect for an outdoor celebration!

All of the events are outdoors.

Will there be other events during the weekend?

Answer

Yes! We are doing our joint bachelor/bachelorette celebration on Thursday and we’ll have a welcome gathering the night before the wedding. The villa rentals will be booked for May 13th-18th but if you can only come for part of the weekend, we totally understand and are grateful for any time we have together. Details on all events to come as we get closer.

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes, you’ll need a valid passport to enter Mexico. Make sure it’s valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
