After knowing each other for several months, Bill worked up the courage to ask Kelsey out on their last first date ever. He suggested getting drinks at Odyssey Gastropub in downtown Colorado Springs, and throughout the course of the night, they each started becoming more comfortable around the other. Kelsey revealed that she loves dogs and has always wanted to learn to pick a lock- two things Bill had. After meeting his dog, Layla, whose birthday was the same day, Bill told Kelsey that he had a lock-picking set and he would teach her how. Within minutes, Kelsey mastered it and left Bill speechless. After sharing more drinks & stories and talking the night away, they looked at the clock and it was 1 am. Kelsey and Bill kissed goodbye and each went home. They both knew it was a done deal & the rest is history! *Thank you to Doug Kloss for the lock picking skills, Josh McMurray for helping Bill adopt Layla & Krystal Uthe for encouraging Bill to ask Kelsey out.*
Bill's 33rd birthday fell on a Wednesday and to celebrate we booked a room for the upcoming weekend at The Brown Palace in Denver, CO. We spent the day in Denver shopping, eating, & celebrating his birthday followed by dinner with some friends. The following morning Bill had set up breakfast to be delivered to the room which included coffee, eggs benedict, an omelette, some fruit and a "breakfast dessert". When we had finished eating breakfast, Bill brought the dessert plate over, took the lid off, got down on one knee, uttered a few sweet sentences (through tears for both of us) and asked Kelsey to spend the rest of her life with him! Of course, #shesaidyes without hesitation and they called they're family & friends to tell them the good news.
