6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
We encourage you to wear something green - Desi or Western are both okay.
This is an evening of introductions and henna tattoos. This will also be a chance for folks to practice their sangeet dances in person. There will be music and refreshments. While traditionally only women get henna tattoos, it's 2024 and we encourage the men to also indulge in getting something small... or big! It only lasts a few days anyways. Here's Martha Stewart's guide on Mehendi Parties if you are curious to learn more about it: https://www.marthastewart.com/7892206/traditional-mehndi-party
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This is a (semi) traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. It will be followed by lunch and a cocktail hour (or several) preceding the Sangeet. The venue has a combination of grass and concrete. Considering all the dancing to come that night, we recommend you wear comfortable shoes.
6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Indian outfits preferred, but we want everyone to be comfortable and wear something they can dance in (comfy shoes highly encouraged)!
The Sangeet is where the party gets going! An evening of music, dancing, and food, the Sangeet is a chance for you to showcase those dance moves you've been working on. There will be choreographed Bollywood and Western dances, followed by a buffet style dinner and an open dance floor. You better work on shaking those hips and changing those lightbulbs!
8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Traditional Indian clothes preferred
The Hindu wedding ceremony, lagna or maduve, is an amalgamation of many individual sacred events. We have been given a muhurtha, or auspicious time, of 9:30 am. This means that events will probably start around 7:30-8 am. The main portion of the Hindu ceremony will take place around 9:30 am. We expect the ceremony to end around noon. There will be a South Indian breakfast served during the ceremony. Following the ceremony, there will be a traditional Brahmin lunch served on a banana leaf. There will be a few hours break before the reception starts, so you have the option to change outfits before it. The venue has a few changing rooms, but there should be enough time for you to go back to the hotel, take a nap, and get ready there. A traditional Brahmin ceremony would have all the events described here: https://www.panigrahana.com/post/hindu-brahmin-wedding However as you may or may not know, we don't exactly fit the mold of a "traditional" couple lol
6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Semi-formal, cocktail, or Desi attire
An evening with live music and a buffet style dinner (but no dancing, unfortunately). This event will have many more guests than the previous events. This is the final event of our wedding, and we expect it to wrap up by 11 pm.
