If you're looking for a quick bite and a few drinks, Augusta's Water Street has a number of pubs and breweries overlooking the Kennebec River. Parking is free on Front St.
Shopping in Hallowell
With quaint pubs, local vendors and coffee shops on the water, Hallowell's main strip, Water St, is a classic New England small town shopping center. Bintliff's Corner Brew is a great breakfast spot. Water St is a 7 minute drive from the hotels.
Kennebec River Rail Trail
This is a paved trail popular with bikers and runners. It follows the river south - starting in Augusta, stopping in Hallowell (2 miles one way), ending in Gardiner (6 miles one way). Pairing this walk with a little shopping in Hallowell would be a great choice for a day trip. Front St in Augusta has parking available to enter the trail and is a 5 minute drive from the hotels.
Cornich Trail Loop
This 2 mile loop is about 10 minutes from the hotels and is near downtown Hallowell. Pairing this hike with some shopping on Water Street would be a good choice for a day-trip.
Natanis Golf Course
Situated in the rural fields and rugged woods of Vassalboro, Natanis Golf Course has two 18-hole courses available - Tomahawk and Arrowhead. It's about 20 minutes north of Augusta.
