Flight

Santa Barbara Airport (SBA)

This is the closest airport to Santa Maria and Pismo Beach. Flights can be more expensive, but may be worth it to not have to drive up from Southern California.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

This is likely the most affordable option, but will require a 2.5- to 3-hour drive to the central coast area.

Amtrak

Prefer the scenic route or don't want to drive? Take the Amtrak from anywhere in California and get off at the Grover Beach stop. From there, it's a 20-minute drive Santa Maria (let us know if you need a ride!).

Where to Stay

Santa Maria is just 20 minutes from Pismo Beach, so we recommend staying there to make your trip a mini vacay (Pismo Beach is coastal, while Santa Maria is inland). If you'd prefer to be closer to your hotel at the end of the night, though, then Santa Maria is the way to go.
