This is a crazy time to be planning a wedding, we know. But listen, it's been four years and we really don't want to keep waiting. And we REALLY want you there! With that said, though, we care about your health and safety much more than we care about our selfish desires to want to celebrate our special day with you. If, for ANY reason, you don't feel comfortable attending an event like this, or if you're avoiding travel or gatherings, we absolutely understand. This is especially true for our out-of-state, high-risk and non-vaccinated friends and family. We're going to do our very best to keep you safe by following whatever guidelines are set at that time in our area. We'll also keep seating distanced and request everyone wear masks unless they're eating. We also understand that you may want to wait until closer to the event to confirm. We get that. If you don't think you'll be able to make a decision by June 1, please let us know. We're also looking into live streaming the event and will share that information as soon as we have it. And, of course, please stay home if you aren't feeling well. We'll be sure to take plenty of photos for you.
After a year of repeatedly downloading and deleting dating apps, Melanie decided in December 2016 that she was over online dating. She dramatically deleted them all (because there were many) on a flight to Portland to spend NYE with bridesmaid Bethany. When Bethany heard Mel's dating app woes, she encouraged Mel to download "that one app that finds guys near you," in case her future husband was in Portland. Excited about the possibility of finding a cute hipster, Mel downloaded Crosspaths. The next morning, she received a notification that she was matched with Domonique, the hot "Jesus. Grad Student. Barista. Musician." guy she swiped right on six months prior (who was across the country in South Carolina...strange that they were matched). After expressing her excitement with a four-letter word or two and a pat on the back for getting his attention, she assumed she'd never hear from him. Seconds letter, she received "Hey there! My name is Dom. How are you?" After a week of texting back and forth, and after a three-hour phone call before, they had their first date. It was nine hours long (because, as you probably know, Mel and Dom both love to talk). As soon as she got back home, Melanie texted a handful of friends and said, "I think I'm going to marry him." And the rest, as they say, is history.
