Philip's version: 'Twas a dark and stormy night... The waves of the Baltic sea threatened to capsize the small ship that clung perilously above water... Fortunately, this has nothing to do with our story. Our story begins with a server. Not like the one you'd find in a restaurant, but a Discord server where individuals find themselves chatting away about everything under the sun. Invited to this server by a friend of mine, Kaleigh, it wasn't long before Meghan and I soon met as well. In the unregulated chaos of a general chat channel, Meghan and I hit it off in June 2020. We started talking and bantering across a multitude of subjects, topics, themes, discourse, and other antics that came up during that time. At one point, very early on in our friendship, I sent her a few private messages. She later admitted it drove her crazy because she was crushing on me hard and was trying to figure out a way to keep me talking to her. We both couldn't deny the fact that we were growing more and more attracted to each other. Even the server owner jokingly called it the "Philip & Meghan Chat" because of how often we fired messages back and forth. One late night conversation on July 8, 2020 was when we admitted how we felt and how we both wanted to move forward. On January 13th of 2022, I proposed to Meghan at a botanical garden in my home town. And she said yes. Obviously. Otherwise this page wouldn't be here. — Meghan's version: Way back in May of 2020, right after the pandemic began, I had just graduated from college and was trying to figure out what to do with my life. I had been sent home from school early to finish the semester at home, and was still reeling from the sudden loss of in-person interaction with my friends. So, as many people did during this time, I turned to the internet for socialization. I had started listening to a D&D actual play podcast called Sneak Attack! while I was still in school, and continued to follow the show even as it went into a pandemic-induced hiatus. I stumbled across a Discord server dedicated to the show, and very quickly made friends among the show's fans who talked there. One of those friends, Amalia, later invited me to join a separate, smaller server that the podcast's host had started, which mostly consisted of random food conversations and ranting about various nerdy subjects. Of course, I joined almost immediately. Soon after, Philip appeared from the depths of the internet, and almost immediately he began wreaking chaos in the server. I was intrigued. I don't know why. But very quickly it turned from general chaos to the two of us messing with each other and talking about whatever came into our silly little brains. And we talked a lot. Gradually, after weeks of agonizing on my part, we moved our conversations to private messaging, and after I had a pretty stressful phone interview at the end of June, this fool managed to get my number. He was super smooth and stuff, too. Four days later, on the 4th of July, we finally went from vague flirting to actually admitting that we had feelings and stuff. Four days after that, after wondering whether or not we were actually dating, we decided to make it official. The rest, as you can see, is history.
