It was New Year's Eve. I was attending a work friend's party. Mike was also invited to the evening festivities through a mutual friend. Upon my arrival to my friend's place, Mike happened to open the door for me--and was speechless. Throughout the evening, our attraction to each other grew. We welcomed the year 2018 with laughter, dancing, spilled drinks, and eventually a New Year's kiss. But the sparks didn't end there. Our love grew past that night--and, well, the rest is history.
Mike had a special day planned for us in North Georgia. We were going to go for a late morning hike up Blood Mountain, followed by a wine tour at a nearby winery in the afternoon. The weather was perfect--sunny, not a cloud in the sky, and 60 degrees with just the right amount of breeze. The hike was relatively challenging, but the beautiful view that came with reaching the top of Blood Mountain was well worth it. After enjoying the sights and breathing in the crisp mountain air, Mike turned to me and took my hands in his. He looked me in my eyes and reminded me of his why--all the reasons that kept him falling in love with me each and every day. The next thing I knew, he knelt down on one knee in his Adidas tracksuit and asked for my hand in marriage. Of course, without hesitation, I accepted his proposal--it was the easiest yes of my life. After this beautiful moment, we headed back down the mountain to attend our wine tour at Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Upon our arrival, I was surprised to find both our parents waiting for us under a private gazebo, with a stunning display of balloons, charcuterie, and Dom Perignon. We celebrated with wine, champagne, and the gorgeous expanse of the vineyard displayed before us. It was the most amazing day, and I will never forget how happy I felt.
