In 2019, Grace and Witt were both freshmen at Auburn University. They ended up in the same dorm, Cambridge Hall. Grace was more of a homebody while Witt loved hanging out in their dorm's common room. One night, Grace's roommate asked her to come to dinner with a new group of people she had befriended. Grace and her roommate made their way to the esteemed Panda Express in Foy Commons to meet up with everyone. After placing their order, Grace's roommate began introducing her to everyone in the group. When Witt said his name and major, Grace's interest was piqued but told herself not to get into a relationship only a month into college. A month or so later, Grace got on the elevator in their dorm after a long day of classes, and was excited to see Witt was already there. He looked up and noticed her and said "Oh hey! You're Grace, right?" She said, "Yes, I am!" To which Witt responded, "You should be honored, I never remember anyone's name." Grace was immediately confused because Witt had not seemed this cocky when she first met him. A short while later, Witt asked everyone in the friend group to go to the coffee shop next to Cambridge. Grace was the only one to respond to say she would be glad to go! Little did Witt know, she did not like coffee in the slightest and the time he had picked was not convenient for her. However, Grace had grown to like Witt and was interested in giving him another chance after the elevator incident. Thankfully, the coffee date went well and Witt got her number! Or so you would think, Witt was too shy to ask Grace for her number and she ended up asking him for his. Over the next few weeks, they kept in touch and would see each other periodically in the common room and out with their friends. Then, right before everyone was set to go home before Christmas break, Grace asked Witt on an official first date. Now since this was college, and they're first year students with final exams coming up, this date had a twist! Grace's English teacher had offered extra credit to anyone who would do something out of their comfort zone. Grace hated sushi and Witt loved it, so what better first date than a sushi date! The date went about how you would expect, Grace tried a California roll and almost threw up, but that somehow didn't put Witt off! They continued to go on a few more dates until Witt officially asked Grace to be his girlfriend on February 11th! And what a perfect date that was, a week after Grace's birthday and three days before Valentine's Day. Witt has a way with the timing of things doesn't he? Five years later, and here we are. Witt proposed at our Alma Mater in front of Samford Hall. It was so special as it was just the two of us and at the place we met. He had even arranged for a photographer and we had another photo session the next day! We are so excited to finally be tying the knot, especially in the Rockies, our favorite place to ski!
