UPDATE: Due to Covid restrictions, this option of having a separate room for the babes could be off the table. Also with our lack of space and for their health and safety, we do encourage that if you have the option to leave them with a babysitter for the day, we kindly ask that you please do so. Absolutely- we love all of the special babies in our lives. However, due to the VERY small size of our venue, we will be having a separate area for the kiddos during dinner. They can enjoy activities and kid-friendly foods with babysitters ..and parents can have a stress-free, enjoyable dinner. (Trust us, we've both been there trying to juggle multiple plates.) With that, if you decide you'd rather leave them home for the day, we completely understand.
Unfortunately due to our small space, we are unable to accommodate guests for everyone, so if your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes. If not, we would prefer if it was just you. If this is a big issue, please contact us as RSVP's are coming in closer to the wedding.
WHO KNOWS. It's impossible to predict or even reference last year's weather in Iowa. With that, expect it to be chilly ..with a chance of rain, snow, 45 mph winds, or a heatwave with 98% humidity. All sarcasm aside, it will most likely be in the 50's and we DO plan to have an outdoor ceremony along with a bonfire during the reception (weather permitting), so please plan accordingly.
We will be having an "unplugged" ceremony, so we ask that you leave the photos/videos of the ceremony up to our wonderful photographers and videographers. It will allow them to get the best visuals and you will be able to enjoy the moment. We would also much rather see your beautiful faces than the backsides of your phones! Our awesome officiant will call you out if you try to sneak anything, so don't test her. ;) With that said, if you want to take pictures of before and after the ceremony, feel free to post them!
ASAP- Our wedding day is a home football game weekend for the worst school known to mankind ..aka the University of Iowa ..and hotels will fill up quickly. With that, we recommend booking as early as possible! We have rooms blocked off at the Heartland Inn and at a discounted price until OCTOBER 3RD!
Yes- if you stay with Heartland Inn, there will be a free shuttle that takes you directly to-and-from the hotel to the ceremony every hour until 1 am. However, if you choose to stay elsewhere, you will need to provide your own transportation. The ceremony and reception will take place at the same location, so no transportation will be needed in between.
We suggest arriving about 30 minutes before the ceremony.
With Palmer House Stable being directly on Main Street, there is plenty of free parking along both the side of the building and Main Street itself. Please DO NOT park directly behind the building in the small driveway, in order for our caterer to have access to us. If Main appears to be full, there are plenty of side streets you will be able to park along.
