Our friends were coworkers, who decided to share photos of us. We were asked if we were interested in the opposite person. After a few weeks, we started texting each other after giving it a try not knowing this would change our very lives. What began as text messages ended up with us meeting each other in person. We first met at Milkcow, where we started talking in person. Stephen was very talkative, but looked so tired as he was working late. Tuoi looked much different in person than in the photos, but looked really cute. We ended up texting more and met up two weeks later. Stephen thought Tuoi ghosted him when he went to the wrong location and ended up being late again. We ended up going on “night hike” after dinner at Communication Hills. This happened to the spot we would end up going on our next few dates to walk and chat. On Labor Day 2022, where San Jose hit 106 degrees, Tuoi suggested going on a picnic. She made spaghetti and deviled egg sandwiches. Stephen ended up asking Tuoi later that evening, “Will you be my girlfriend?” while presenting her a bouquet of roses. No response from Tuoi other than nodding her head with a smile. Over the next few years, we continued with our weekly dates to strengthen our relationship. Stephen ended up converting to become Catholic to be the same religion as Tuoi. Stephen asked for Tuoi’s hand in marriage in secret without her knowing. After 4 months of waiting for the engagement ring, he finally proposed to Tuoi in the backyard of her house. Tuoi accepted the proposal and we were both ecstatic. We are both looking forward to our next journey together as husband and wife. No matter the difficulties that lie ahead, we will thrive with God’s blessing. One chapter of our lives ends, and a new one begins.
