We first met in the 5th grade when Cody transferred into my class from another school. We became friends and throughout the years we would talk on AIM, Facebook, and in class, but we never had a romantic relationship until end of our senior year in high school (2012). I vividly remember my best friend in high school, Gina, asking me one day who my "dream guy" was and I said "Cody Tungate." She rolled her eyes because she knew I would say him and I laughed at her answer which was "Harry Potter." Little did I know that I would end up dating Cody (end of senior year 2012), breaking up here and there (we were young and dumb), survive a long distance relationship (Cody moved to Virginia in early 2013- we were freshmen in college), and now be engaged to marry him. It has truly been a whirlwind but I would not trade our love for anything.
It was December 7, 2022, a gloomy/grey winter Wednesday. Surprisingly the weather was warm for December so Cody suggested we go out and have a nice day date together. We started with lunch on Geist Reservoir and then went to Daniel's Vineyard to do some wine tasting. The vineyard had those cute igloos set up that you could rent to drink your wine in, so we rented one for about an hour. It was such a fun time. We drank some wine, listened to music, talked, and just enjoyed our time together. When we were finished, we walked over to where the grapevines were to look around. I immediately recognized this large plot of concrete where I knew they hosted weddings on. We walked on to that and just took in the sites. As I was taking it all in, I turned around and Cody was dropping to one knee...and crying. The first thing I said was "Is this real!!!" in complete shock and before he could even get the words "will you marry me" out of his mouth, I too was sobbing in happiness. I jumped in to his arms and we just hugged, cried, and I said yes. It was just us out there. No one else. It was perfect. I always told Cody that I did not care how he proposed to me but that all I wanted was for it to be a surprise. He nailed it. I had ZERO idea it was coming. I did not even think that it was going to happen within the next few months or even year. It was perfect and I will never forget it.
