Katie and Michael met at their job, St. Mary's Hospital, in the beginning of 2024. They became friends on Facebook shortly after, but nothing was said. Passing glances were made in elevators and "How are you(s)?" were exchanged. Michael saw Katie first, but she made the first move. On September 3, 2024, Katie decided to take the chance and message him on Facebook Messenger while at work. After they got off of work, they sat outside in the parking lot and talked about what they could do to hang outside of work. It was decided that they go to The Flying Biscuit to get breakfast. Katie and Michael conversed for a couple of hours, all while realizing that they had a lot in common. Everything felt very natural and nothing was forced or awkward. It felt just right. From then on, a relationship was born, and the rest is history.
We had a trip planned for Cumberland Island with our family and a few friends. The morning started off great with a walk down to the beach to watch the sunrise. When we got back to the campsite, it was time for us to get ready for some pictures. Michael's family has always taken photos in front of this one specific tree, so that was what we were going to do. We get a few of all of us together, then some of just ourselves. Michael looks over and says, "Well I've got a picture" then proceeds to get down on one knee. "Katie, I love you with all my heart, and I want you to be mine for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?" Katie said yes! (After saying "What!?" twice.)
