FAQs

Question

Must I attend both wedding ceremonies?

Answer

No. Because we are from different backgrounds, we are having two different wedding ceremonies the same day to honor both our cultures. While we would love to celebrate with everyone at every event, we understand it's a big time commitment and not everyone can make it for both! Feel free to come to either one or both ceremonies (and the reception, of course!), whatever suits your schedule. Just having you be part of our day is the most important thing for us. It's a long day, so lunch and refreshments will be provided between ceremonies for those who are sticking it out the entire day!

Question

Do I have to attend the Sangeet/Mehndi party and the Grah Shanti?

Answer

No. These events are less formal opportunities to have fun and celebrate before the big day! While everyone is welcome to both events, your presence is completely optional. Both of these events will be held near Rockford, IL. If you do plan to attend these pre-wedding events, please indicate this in your online RSVP so we can order the appropriate amount of food and drinks!

Question

Can I bring my children to the wedding?

Answer

The Chicago wedding and reception events on Sunday will be an adults-only affair, so we kindly request you leave your children at home. Preferably supervised, or else they might make TikTok videos of themselves eating Tide Pods.

Question

Can I bring my children to the mehndi party or Grah Shanti?

Answer

Yes! Children are welcome to any of the pre-wedding events in Rockford.

Question

Do I have to be COVID-vaccinated to attend?

Answer

Yes. How is this a question? Are you crazy? Why would you attend a public gathering unvaccinated? We want this wedding to be safe for all of our guests, and we don't want to be a public health menace, so all guests must be fully vaccinated (preferably boosted if eligible!). Though we want all of our invited guests to be present, we kindly ask that any symptomatic or unvaccinated guests stay at home.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for all wedding day events will be formal (black-tie optional). Either Indian or Western formalwear is encouraged and acceptable for either ceremony. For pre-wedding events, semi-formal Indian and Western attire is encouraged.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Check the Weather Channel. It's fall in Illinois--even God doesn't know what is going to go down.

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

We will have plenty of vegetarian options available. Let us know in advance if you have other allergies or restrictions, unless you're keto. Nobody cares about your keto diet. Rice is life. Why would you give up rice? What did rice ever do to you?

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes. If not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Will the wedding be broadcast or streamed virtually?

Answer

Yes! We will be streaming the Indian ceremony so that our family and friends abroad or at home can join in our day.

Question

Should I bring cash for the bar?

Answer

We are offering an open bar during the cocktail hour and reception. Bringing cash to tip the bartenders is appreciated.
