we're getting married!

We met through our mutual friend, Reece. When Reece set up a double date and then had to cancel because she inconveniently got sick, Derek took it upon himself to ask me on a date just the two of us. With plans to go to an art museum, we decided to postpone because of a bad ice storm. Coincidentally, Derek's dad offered free Vikings tickets to Derek for the following day. So Derek decided to ask me to go to a Vikings game for our first date! After the overwhelming Vikings game, I was unsure if I wanted to go on another date with Derek. My roommates at the time (Shan, Sammy, and Brooke) encouraged me to go on another date with him and thank goodness for them because after our second date, we were pretty much inseparable.

After almost 5 years of being together, Derek proposed on our NYC trip in early December of 2024! We walked to a coffee shop on a cold Friday morning and then proceeded to walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. He planned for his friend, Tony, to hide in the bushes and take amazing photos of our special moment.
