Like any good modern love story, ours began on Bumble—the dating app where the girl has to text first, or the match disappears and you both pretend you were never interested. When Tristyn saw Regan’s profile, he was immediately obsessed (he denies this, but we all know the truth). He waited and waited for her to message until the 24-hour timer was down to 30 minutes and still no text, he panicked, and paid $18.99 for the premium upgrade just to save the match and give Regan more time. Naturally, she messaged him about five minutes later. We texted back and forth for about a week and got to know each other a little more until one night it just so happened to line up that Regan was still awake, and Tristyn had just gotten off work at 2 a.m. and he decided to take the “scenic route” home through campus, just to see where she lived. Little did either of us know that he’d actually stop on the side of the road, get out of his truck, and walk up to her freshman dorm window (yes, the one with the screen still on it). That very window ended up being the stage for the first time we met in-person—which lasted about 20 minutes before Regan declared it past her bedtime and Tristyn remembered his truck was still illegally parked. That night he drove straight home and told his mom that he had a feeling Regan was “the one” and that he knew he was going to marry her someday so much so that he deleted his dating apps on the spot. And now—4.5 years later—here you all are, celebrating that very moment coming true. In those early days, we couldn’t wait to see each other again. We met up night after night at 2 a.m. after Tristyn’s shifts, completely unaware we were starting something life-changing. From that first week, to then Valentine’s Day within days of that when Madison (one of the beloved bridesmaids) woke Regan up at the crack of dawn to make sure she had her contacts in and a bra on before letting Tristyn into the dorm with flowers and candy. To the moment on the side of I-17—yes, on the literal side of the highway—where Tristyn asked Regan to be his girlfriend after meeting her parents for the first time. (He really loves pulling over on roads for major life events.) Since then, we’ve done it all: “medium-distance,” first holidays, graduations, job promotions, buying a house, getting engaged, moving across the state, and building a life that feels exactly right for us. And all because two random people met through a college dorm window on a random Tuesday night—we now get to bring all of you together to celebrate the next chapter, each of you holding your own little piece of our love story. These last 4.5 years have been the best kind of adventure, and we can’t wait for you to see us dive into the next one… together.
