A small town with some cool stores and cafes - the closest town to Assembly Inn.
A great place to look at or shop for art right in Black Mountain.
This goes without saying. For those looking for a chill hike, Craggy Gardens is close and really beautiful. For those who are a bit more adventurous, try Mt Mitchell - the tallest mountain this side of the Mississippi. Don't forget we will also be leading a few group hikes the morning of the wedding!
A great place to go for a scenic drive and a good spot to go on some shorter hikes. Lots of access points near Assembly Inn.
Asheville has loads to offer in the way of breweries. A few of our favorites are Lexington Ave Brewery (LAB), Bhramari Brewing (101 S Lexington Ave) and Wicked Weed. Funkatorium is also supposed to be pretty tasty.
For those who like local pottery and Americana arts and crafts, this is the place for you. Spend hours exploring the streets of downtown Asheville, and stop by Lexington Ave Brewery when you get thirsty :)
One of our favorite bookstores.
Might be tough to do on the wedding day - but a good option for folks tying in a little vacation. The best raft-able whitewater on the East Coast is a little over 2 hours from Assembly Inn - Section IV of the Chattooga. NOC (who Tripp used to work for) and Wildwater lead trips over there. The town is Long Creek, SC. If you would rather have a more relaxing experience, you can head to the Nantahala, where you can guide your own raft or ducky down Class 2, and one Class 3. This is about 1.5 hours from Assembly Inn. More details to be found at www.noc.com
A world-renowned gallery in Asheville.
A great place to go swimming, fishing, and hiking - Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Coontree Campground. About an hour from Assembly Inn and right next to the cool small town of Brevard.
This is the best of Southern high-end pampering. Get a manicure or massage at the Spa, and you get access to all of the baths and facilities for the full day. The back porch alone is worth the visit - beautiful view of the Smoky Mountains is even better with a drink in your hand.
A great place on the Blue Ridge Parkway to check out (and possibly buy) some Folk Art. 20 minutes from Assembly Inn.
A great place for kids and adults alike.
