Our Story

Love finds a way

In 2013, Kelsey was invited by her friend, Trevor's cousin, to visit California and stay with his family. Before going out there, she saw pictures of Trevor and was told that they were going to hit it off. They bonded the first night when they sat next to each other over a sushi dinner with his whole family. (Trevor was extremely nervous but was smitten right away by this red-head). Later in the night, while Kelsey was in the bathroom, Trevor’s cousin told him that Kelsey thought he was cute and that she liked him (which was embarrassing at the time for her, but she was secretly happy he knew). They only stayed with Trevor’s family for a few days, but the two of them were immediately drawn to each other. No one knew, but they snuck kisses and shared texts the whole time she was there. When the trip was over she didn’t want to leave at all, but she went back to school in Texas and he went back to school in California. On the plane home, she (mostly) joked that she would marry him one day and that she’d get a one way ticket to California. They never stopped talking after she left, so she visited him at school over the summer in Santa Barbara, and it was like they never missed a beat. They eventually started dating long distance, with lots of trips and visits to see each other during that time. After she graduated from college, she moved to California to get her Masters degree and to be closer to Trevor, and they never looked back after that. Over their seven years, they dealt with long distance, challenges, life changes, and loss, but they always found a way back to each other and never gave up on their relationship. The two of them are inseparable best friends who share two dogs and belly laughs every day. ("Two peas in a pod" as they like to say.) They knew in their hearts after a few days of knowing each other that they’d end up together and get married some day, and here they are 7 years later ready to walk down the aisle.

Our Engagement

Friday the 13th

Trevor proposed to Kelsey on Friday November 13th, 2020. He had been planning it for months, and Kelsey didn't suspect a thing. He made reservations at one of her favorite restaurants for just another "date night," and he suggested earlier in the week that they stop by a new park overlooking the harbor with the dogs beforehand. She didn't even consider that he had something up his sleeve. Trevor hoped that she would be at his house on time, dressed and ready to go out for dinner. But Kelsey's always running late, and she's always in workout clothes. So she showed up in yoga pants, Birkenstocks, and a sweatshirt (nothing like what Trevor was expecting). He also wanted to take his car to dinner because he had the ring hiding in it. But, since Kelsey was running late, she insisted that they take her car so she didn't have to park. Although it was not what he had envisioned, he realized that this was "us" in a nutshell, and he couldn't be happier to propose. Trevor and Kelsey got to the park, and in one last ditch effort he asked if she wanted to put on her jacket (knowing that this moment was going to be photographed). Naturally she declined, but that didn't stop him because, in his eyes, she's beautiful no matter what. He put his arm around her as they looked out at the water during sunset... **and this is where things get a little fuzzy because they both blacked out from emotions** The next thing Kelsey remembers is Trevor getting down on one knee, crying (no surprise there), and saying the sweetest things in the world. And ALL that she could say was: "No way. No way. Are you serious? No way... are you SERIOUS?!" Trevor had to ask her TWICE if she would marry him because she was so in shock and happy. As soon as she said yes, he gave the signal, and his whole family came flooding around the corner with hundreds of roses. Kelsey didn't stop crying for 5 days. It was the best day of their lives, and they couldn't be happier to marry their best friend.
