Julie: We met online through eHarmony. I had signed up in November, but didn't touch the sites until late February. In late April I went on THE MOST AWKWARD date of my life! No, it wasn't with Trevor. I was about to give up on the whole online dating thing when I notice a cute guy from Huntington. I wasn't sure because his profile was a little vague, and he seemed a little nerdy. I went with it and started the process of getting to know him more. Trevor: Online dating. Yeah, I figured I would try it out. eHarmony. They have the cheesy commercial with the song you can't get out of your head. Seemed like people had pretty good luck with it. So...I signed up! Long story short, Julie sent me a request first. So yes, she made the first move! After a couple weeks I asked her out.
Julie: After several weeks of communicating online Trevor asked me if I would like to meet him. He asked if I would rather go out to dinner and a movie or to the zoo. My first thought was, "Heck yes, the zoo"! We had a great time! About halfway through our zoo adventure he asked if I wanted to go to a Tincap's game with him. I immediately thought, "Oh, so I passed the first round". I can't remember if that thought came out in words, like may of my thoughts do, but we went to the Tincaps game later that evening. The last bit of our evening together was spent watching beautiful fireworks while being surrounded by a bunch of random teenagers at their prom. Trevor: After Julie and I had been texting for a little while, I decided to ask her if we could meet. My idea was to go to the Fort Wayne Zoo. I figured the zoo would be a good place because there is a lot to see...no awkward moments. So as we walked around the zoo we got more comfortable and kind of did play by plays for the animals. It became pretty hilarious. I thought the date was going pretty well and wanted to do something else that evening. I asked if she would like to go to a Tin Caps game which was my plan if the day was going well. We went to the game and had a great time. I can't remember if it was the next day or when, but I then asked her to come to meet my family and friends at a Indy 500 race party we were having. It just went great from there.
Julie: Everyone asked me if I had any hints as to when the proposal was going to happen. Yes, I had an idea that he was going to ask in Utah. I mean, I would probably have been upset if he hadn't used such a great opportunity. I had an idea of the general time, but I had no idea about the specifics. It was a 10 day trip. The first 4 days my mind was always on "Is this the day" mode. I'll let Trevor tell the rest, but I do want everyone to know...No, I wasn't hunting for the ring... Trevor: I think it was February when my Dad had an offer from a company to go to Utah in July with the whole family. I had remembered that Julie's favorite national park was Bryce Canyon. The house we would be staying at was a perfect location to hit the southern Utah national parks. I devised a plan to somehow propose in Bryce Canyon. The hardest part for me was getting the ring there safe and sound. My Mom took the ring in her carry-on. After we got to Salt Lake City we stayed there for the night then headed down about 4 hours south to get to the house. It would be 2 days until Bryce Canyon. Talk about a really hard secret to keep! The morning of the 7th we were getting ready and filling up our backpacks. I put the ring box in a shirt in the bottom of my backpack. Well, Julie decided to use my backpack too. She started pulling out my clothes asking why I needed them. I about died! I said keep them in there! I'll need a shirt to change into later after I sweat to death! She said whatever and put it back. What a close one! Julie then went upstairs, and I quickly put the ring in my Mom's pack. Later, we got to Bryce and started our hike. Just after we started Julie goes to get something out of my Mom's pack and about finds the ring again!! I am freaking out now. I think quick and get Julie in front of everyone. Then I have Mom hand-off the ring and I put it in my pocket. A few minutes later I popped the question at one of the coolest places I have ever seen!
