Plaza Art Fair
Kansas City's esteemed Plaza Art Fair will be going on this weekend, from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 23. The Plaza Art Fair is a must see for anyone looking for something to do over the weekend. The art fair features hundreds of artists, takes up nine blocks of the Plaza district, will have live music and bands, food trucks and bars. The art fair drives a huge crowd and was always a favorite event of Trent and Halie's when they lived in Kansas City. Plus dog petting is usually peak, for any of our fellow dog lovers.
Mildred's Food + Drink
Trent & Halie's first (and second!) date were at Mildred's. It's a top recommended spot for a breakfast burrito or sandwich and a coffee. They also serve lunch! Walking distance from the Hotel. Even closer if you take the streetcar one stop down (the same top for the wedding venue).
Crossroads Hotel
If you're looking for a night cap, this swanky bar is a must. We will also be inviting out-of-towners and guests to join us here Friday night for a drink after our Rehearsal Dinner. See you then!
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
We have visited and enjoyed the Nelson for years - it has a fantastic combination of classic and modern pieces, and you can spend countless hours there exploring. As a bonus, one of our first dates was at the Nelson with Trent's family playing mini golf on the front lawn.
River Market
We spent numerous Saturday's Sunday's here visiting the farmer's market, which is open from mid-March through November. The open-air market is surrounded by 30+ vendors and restaurants. It is easily accessible via the KC Streetcar.
National WWI Museum and Memorial & Liberty Memorial
The National World War I Museum and Memorial is an award-winning museum that is close to Union Station. As a bonus, Liberty Memorial (i.e., the tall monument) has amazing views of the Kansas City skyline.
Union Station Kansas City
Union Station in Kansas City is an iconic institution where we have spent many afternoons and nights. Within the Station, there is a great restaurant and bar, Pierpont's, and the Station itself contains many exhibits and interesting pieces of history.
Boulevard Brewing Company
Boulevard Brewing Co. is a Kansas City icon, with an expansive beer hall that has amazing views of the City and is close to the Crossroad Arts District.
Up-Down KC
Up-Down is one of Trent's favorite spots, right next to where he lived for 5+ years. He recommends playing Mario Kart of the N64, the countless pinball machines, or skee-ball; Halie recommends the pizza.
Town Topic Hamburgers Broadway
If you're in a need of a late night bite, Town Topic is your Crossroad's spot to fulfill your smash burger dreams. Just follow the neon lights.
Betty Rae's Ice Cream
We have spent countless dates here, whether it was post-dinner or a Sunday afternoon treat. Trent recommends brown butter and toasted pecans, and Halie's go-to scoop is cinnamon or lavender honey.
