Trent and Halie attended Middle School and High School together, where Trent's mom was one of Halie's middle school teachers. Trent's sister, who also attended school with them, taught the choreography for a Middle School dance (Thriller by Michael Jackson) that Halie participated in. Halie always liked the quiet, smart ones (i.e., had a crush on Trent). Halie tried to get her good friend to set them up their senior year; however, on the double-date that was set up, Trent did not even realize it was a date but was just supposed to be a fun time snow tubing in Weston. As it turns out, Trent had a rather large crush on Halie. Fast forward and years go by – we see each other at their five-year High School reunion and exchange words, but Halie was moving back to Kansas City post-grad school and Trent was heading to Mizzou for his MBA so the timing was not right. More years go by, and Trent is living in his condo in the Crossroads. Halie is managing her development projects in the area, living just a few blocks away from Trent. With a nudge from Trent's mom, Trent realizes that the two live next to each other and reaches out for coffee. The two have their coffee date at their favorite spot – Mildred's. Months go by, H and Halie has a seven-story project that they have to seek neighborhood approval on, and as it turns out, one of those neighbors in Trent Keal. The two needed the extra nudge, and it's this project that puts their fate in motion. A big part of getting married in the Crossroads, and more specifically on a rooftop, is rooted in our story. The KC skyline has a special place in their hearts, and their love for the urban fabric is inevitably what brought them together.
