Our Story

2014 - 2021

Evan and I first met, in 2014, at the Collegiate Waterski Tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was competing on the University of Michigan's water ski club, and I on the University of Kansas'. A mutual friend introduced us and the rest is history. We spent the rest of that week playing games in the lake, skiing, and getting to know each other. At the end of the weekend, it was time to say goodbye. Evan was off early to Michigan to study for a final the next day. I drove home with my teammates back to Kansas. I thought our story was over. Little did I know that we would continue talking and visiting each other (12-hour road trips included) for the next year. In August 2015, we decided to make it official. We then dated long-distance for another two years while Evan worked in Detroit and I graduated and began my first two years of teaching in Kansas City. Not long after, Evan joined American Airlines and moved south to Dallas, Texas. During my summers free of teaching, I moved down to Dallas and became an instructor at the local wakeboard park. In May of 2018, I joined him full-time in Texas accepting a teaching position nearby. Our time in Texas was marked by a whirlwind of adventures near and far (as long as a seat was available). 2020. What a year. During our many work-from-home daily walks, we talked of chasing dreams and heading west. After a summer of beautiful weather, breadmaking, and long, pina-colada-filled pool days, it was time to say goodbye to Dallas. Evan took a job in Seattle, and we packed our car (plants and all), and began our journey to the PNW. Evan's father grew up in Washington state and Evan spent many vacations growing up falling in love with the pacific northwest. We have now moved to the cutest little house in Capitol Hill, Seattle. Over our months here, we have lived every day to its Washington-fullest. It only made sense to share this adventure with our friends and family, having the wedding right here on nearby San Juan Island.
