Suhey has been one of the anchoring friendships in my life. I’ve known her since we were 15 and we have truly grown up together. My friendship with Su got me through every major chapter of my life. Through loves and heartbreaks, major achievements, and triumphs, she has been there rooting for me and pushing me to believe in myself. When I was ready to give up, her many pep talks would keep me going. She has been a true friend in the hard times and the good times. I can always count on her to tell me the truth and to point me back to Christ. She has become as close as a sister to me, and I am honored to have her not only be my maid of honor, but officiate my wedding.

Paloma has been an amazing friend throughout the years. She was my companion through many ups and downs in NYC. I met Paloma in college, and we have been able to break out of our shells together. She has loved me and has accepted me and appreciated me quirks and all. She is one of the kindness people with the biggest hearts I’ve ever met and I’m so happy to have her by my side as I open another chapter of my life.

Shanil is my childhood friends, who has turned into family. Our mothers were best friends growing up and it’s beautiful that our bond has persisted through the years growing stronger into our adulthoods. Leaving the Dominican Republic was hard, but I could always count on shanil to be right next door to my house when I came to visit. I have the best memories of my childhood because of her. She is very special to me and I can always count on her wisdom and Godly advice. She understands me very well and I accept her firecracker personality, knowing she’s a big softy inside. We are very opposites in many ways, But she is close to me like a sister.

When I moved to Chicago, I was ready for a new chapter and the opportunity to make news friends. I began working for a home care agency and got matched with Kathy and her son Dre. I realized quickly that coming to work was a joy. Meeting Kathy was like reuniting with someone I’ve know all my life. We spent many days talking about our experiences in life and it felt like talking to a long time friend. She is sweet and kind and a fighter. Sometimes you meet someone and you just know this is going to be someone you want to keep around for the long haul. I am so honored to have her by my side as I say I do.
Madeline Dyer

I met Madeline on a long bus ride from Syracuse to NYC. We struck up a conversation and spent the whole five hours talking about our lives, culture, and family. I didn’t know that chance encounter would turn into a 13 year friendship. Madeline has become more than a friend, but I member of my family. I have seen her grow into a driven and accomplished individual. Her daughter Meeka was the first baby of the family and I am happy to have her by my side, as my family grows even more.
