Cheila: I was living in New York City, immersed in a demanding career and focused on getting my life back on track both financially and spiritually. My work left me with little time to date, and the daily grind had become exhausting. I remember telling my friend Paloma that I was certain my husband wasn’t in New York—that I felt God was calling me elsewhere. My best friend Suhey suggested I move to Chicago, so I took a leap of faith and created an online dating profile, hoping to find love in a new place. Little did I know, this decision would lead me to exactly what I had been searching for all along. During a visit to Chicago, the app began suggesting matches in Illinois instead of New York, and on the day before I was about to leave, I was matched with Travis. Our first conversation was brief, but something about it felt different. When I returned to New York, I reached out to him, and although he was out with friends, he chose to stay outside and talk to me for an hour. Our conversation felt effortless, as if I were reconnecting with an old friend. From that night on, we spoke every day for four months—having Bible studies, virtual movie dates, and deep intentional conversations. Eventually, we scheduled our first in-person meeting. Though we were both nervous, those four days together confirmed what we had both hoped for: we had found something special, something worth investing in and building on. The last two years have been the most joyful and peaceful of my life. I’ve watched Travis be an incredible son, uncle, and friend, and I can’t wait to see him become a husband and father. He has become my best friend, and I have never been more certain that my heart has found the home it has always longed for.
Travis: For a while it seemed like I was caught up in a meaningless cycle of dating and trying to find the right person. It took a lot of soul searching from within to understand exactly why this was happening. It was time for a change. I decided to give my life to Christ. Diving into my faith opened doors that I was constantly trying to kick down or force, but by putting everything in Gods hands everything started to align. After a while I began to feel more complete as a man with a purpose and felt like it was time to find someone to share my life with. I decided to try online dating again, but instead this time around I used a Christian dating app. It didn’t take long to match with Cheila. At first I was a bit shocked because of how beautiful she looked, but I had to take a step back and remember that things needed to be done differently this time. I knew God was pairing us together and I needed to be a purposeful man. Our first conversation was short, but the connection was there. The connection was so strong that we talked daily for months before meeting in person. I am so grateful for the healthy and spiritual conversations we had for the first 4 months. After a trip to New York for myself and a trip to Michigan for Cheila I knew we were meant to become one. Cheila became my best friend and the love of my life. We have accomplished so much together. After many adventures and getting to meet family and friends of Cheila, I have a true understanding of just how amazing she is. She is a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, tia, and all around loving person. Life has been amazing with you and I’m beyond excited to one day soon call you my wife and mother of my children. God is good!
