How We Met

05/2017

It's no secret to many that Travis was my boss for almost 2 years. He interviewed me for a job at a coffee shop within a health information and tech company. He would tell you that I seemed talkative and outgoing and I would tell you that Travis seemed calm and kind. After getting the position and working with each other for a couple years, we gained each other's trust, confidence and friendship. Flash forward even more, and now we're bestfriends and soon to be partners in life.

How He Proposed

9.27.21

Travis worked for weeks to organize and surprise me with a vacation for my birthday. He almost had me fooled and I found out the night before! (: Once the day came, we headed off to Utah and stayed about an hour away from Zion National Park. I had told Travis previously that I wanted to visit Zion and go hiking on some of the trails. We had got there and hiked some beautiful trails and explored the city. On my birthday, we had decided to hike The Narrows (a difficult upstream water hike). We had been warned of flash flooding but decided to go anyways since we came all this way. Once we hit the beginning of the trail, we got into the water and started hiking. We had hiked long enough to be in a private area with narrow and tall walls around us. Travis had asked to stop to get something to eat so we put our packs down and looked around. He had asked me if I wanted a speech or a song. I was confused but said speech. Travis laughed and pulled me in closer and said, "I love you with all my heart and I can't imagine being with anybody else." He pulled something out of his pack and got down on one knee in the water and asked me to be his wife. I immediately started crying and couldn't speak from pure happiness. He had to ask me again what my answer was and I told him "Yes! A thousand times I would marry you."

Climb High

On one of our very first vacations, Travis and I agreed that we want to continue challenging ourselves throughout our travels. We had chosen to "climb" a mountain in Seoul, South Korea. In fact, the Namsen Tower has a cable car that runs up the mountain and you can hike down afterwards. This was a perfect first step in our adventures with mountains. We had seen the Love Locks Bridge and the most beautiful view of Seoul! Jump to Bali, we were pretty confident about our hiking skills so we had booked a sunset hike on Mt. Batur. This is a 4.2 mile hike that started at 2am! We arrived at the base and was put into groups. The path was broken lava rocks and we had nothing but flashlights to illuminate our way. This was not an easy mountain for us to climb; we had to ask several times for us to stop and take a break because we were not used to the amount of stamina needed. Halfway up the mountain, there was an option of riding the remainder on a motorbike. I asked Travis and he said, "we've come all this way, don't you want to do this for yourself?" We were drenched with sweat and exhaustion but we were determined. I had never experienced something so painful, beautiful, challenging, and motivational all at the same time. Once we summited, we were welcomed by the most beautiful view you can imagine! It took us about 4 hours to climb up and it was worth every sore muscle the day after that! Since then, we've traveled to Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and lastly, my favorite, Utah! In every state, we have at least done one thing that has challenged us or was new and exciting. For our honeymoon, we have booked the trek of a lifetime: the Salkantay Trek. This 5 day, 4 night hike brings you up to one of the 7 wonders of the world: Machu Picchu. I cannot imagine what this will feel like once we've summitted and I can't picture anybody else to do it with.
