Picture it: November 2015. The air was crisp, the leaves were auburn and golden, and the Fratalina Wine Mixer was approaching. Coming from a break up earlier that year, my friend Danielle encouraged me to come to a SigEp date function (my FIRST ever fraternity function!) and to let her set me up with a date since she knew everyone in the fraternity. She sent me the name (and let's be honest - pictures) of Trent Jones - and I quickly agreed, especially when she mentioned she had known him from back home. That weekend, I arrived at Valentine Commons for the pregame and met Trent there. He exuded this easygoing, humorous spirit that I admired. We spent the rest of the evening talking about our interests, tastes in music (we discovered we both like The Avett Brothers then!), and homes. After that night, I couldn't get enough of Trent. Over the next two months, we continued to hang out at sorority semi-formal, football games, the SigEp house, and with friends at the U. On January 5th, 2016, Trent finally asked me to make it official while ice skating in downtown Raleigh. Since then, I have gotten to spend the last 5 years with the sweetest, most genuine guy I've ever known. We graduated from NC State, got Mila, moved in together, worked in different fields, and Trent pursued his Master's degree, all while navigating a pandemic, adulthood, and career changes. While I enjoy reminiscing on the years Trent and I have spent together so far, I so look forward to the years ahead of us.
