Business School is great for connections. With one eventually paying big dividends for us. We met at Columbia Business School in NYC in 1998, as cohorts in Cluster F in the class of 2000. Friendly, but not tight. One studious while the other studiously attended Thursday night Happy Hours. We will let you guess which one is which.... After making our own ways in Manhattan during the 2000s and early 2010s, we reconnected again in the elevator bank of 3 World Financial Center, where Trang had been working at AMEX and Karl recently joining RBC. Fast friends since then and frequent travel companions, before a budding romance took root.
We were friends first and traveled all over the world together. Trang even visited Karl when he lived in London. They say you know that you are compatible if you can travel well together. At the wedding celebration, you might notice the tables are themed by destination. It's all the places we've been together. One of our favorite places was Santorini which is also the name of Trang's wedding dress, so she knew it was meant to be. Everyone thought that we were either dating or married, which was not true at the time. Guess they knew something we didn't!
