Hotel
A 6-minute walk from the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and 10 minute drive to the venue, with updated rooms. Book using the below link, by August 27th, for discounted rates.
Flight
San Diego Int'l is our very centrally located airport. Getting to hotels, the venue, and many of San Diego's main attractions should be a 15-25 minute drive. Some guests may prefer to fly into LAX if flights are cheaper or there are direct options. LA is roughly a 2-3 hour drive to San Diego; there is also a train (Pacific Coastliner) from LA to SD. Alternatively - if you're considering visiting Mexico before or after the wedding, we recommend traveling domestically within Mexico from Tijuana. This can provide cost savings, and the Tijuana airport is connected to San Diego via the Cross-Border Express crossing; If you're considering this, get in touch with us and we can help guide you through the logistics.
Travel Note
Getting around once you've arrived will be easy with a rental car or using ride-share (Uber or Lyft). Many of SD's attractions (beach towns, the zoo, Balboa Park, Coronado...) are within 20 minutes of each other. Car Rentals: we recommend renting if you think you'll do a fair amount of exploring while you're here in SD or exploring the broader county, Orange County (Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, et al.) to the north, or anywhere else in SoCal. Ride-share: if you prefer not to rent or are planning to stay pretty central once you're here, Lyfts and Ubers are readily available. It will always depend, but you can expect to pay ~$15-20 for most rides within central SD.
House Or Rental
If you're looking at an extended stay, there are plenty of Airbnbs and VRBOs, and San Diego has a little bit of everything (whether you're after a beach, mountain, vineyard, or city feel). Here are the neighborhoods we recommend you consider: 1. Coronado: Upscale, family friendly with a village feel, nice dining options, and beautiful beaches. ~15 minutes from the venue. 2. La Jolla: Upscale, walkable beach town with a little bit of everything, including the famous seals & sea lions. ~25 minutes from the venue. 3. Mission Beach: Best known for its 3-mile boardwalk along the Pacific and various amusement parks, this is a great option to be near the beach and central to the rest of San Diego. Expect crowds and liveliness. ~25 minutes from the venue. 4. Ocean Beach & Sunset Cliffs: Where we live. This beach neighborhood has a more bohemian, laid-back vibe & the famous Sunset Cliffs State Park (awesome coastal cliff views and per its name, amazing sunsets), and is very walkable. ~15 minutes from the venue. 5. Hillcrest & North Park: More of a city vibe with ample bars, coffee shops, and restaurants that's central to everywhere, these are your 2 spots to look into. Both are ~10 minutes from the venue. Downtown San Diego: we don't recommend this area - parking can be tough to find & expensive, and some areas can feel a little less safe than the other places we recommend. Note: San Diego is a big city & county - other popular areas include North County beaches that are ~30+ minutes north (Solana Beach, Encinitas, Del Mar, Carlsbad), and San Diego's wine region (closest is Escondido, furthest is Temecula) which are ~30+ minutes north-east.
