Please RSVP on our site no later than July 31.
For the welcome dinner, please feel free to dress casually. For the ceremony and reception, our dress code is dressy casual (sundresses, khakis and collared shirts). Given the rustic ranch setting and uneven terrain, comfortable footwear is highly encouraged!
The ranch has a rustic, campground feel, so pack accordingly! If you're staying for a few days, here's what we recommend: • Plenty of sunscreen (the sun is strong at this altitude!) • Comfortable walking shoes and hiking boots if plan to enjoy the hiking trails • Casual clothing like flannels, jeans and comfortable shorts • Bathing suit for the hot springs, hot tubs, and pool • A light raincoat + jacket and other layers for cool evenings
The elevation at Deer Valley Ranch is around 8,500 feet. If you're coming from sea level, make sure to follow these tips: • STAY HYDRATED • Drinking plenty of water before, during and after your visit will help your body adjust • PACE YOUR DRINKING • At high altitude, alcohol hits you harder and faster. Pace yourself :) • PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN • Remember there is at least 35% less protection from the sun. Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and SPF lip balm are your lifeline. • EAT POTASSIUM RICH FOODS • Bananas, avocados, and leafy greens help balance electrolytes and help defend yourself against altitude sickness.
For guests staying at the ranch, there are no dining facilities on site, though coffee is available in the lodge. We will be providing two dinners and one breakfast (please RSVP!), but for Saturday breakfast and lunch you'll be on your own. The closest option for food is a small convenience store and a restaurant at Mount Princeton Hot Springs, just down the road. Buena Vista (20 minutes away) and Salida (30 minutes away) both offer a variety of restaurants and grocery stores if you need additional supplies during your stay. For Lodge Guests: individual rooms do not have fridges or microwaves. We recommend stocking up on snacks before you arrive, and let Melanie or Kevin know if you'd like more fridge space or cooking facilities! For Cabin Guests: each cabin has a full kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave, etc.). We recommend stocking up on groceries before you arrive.
Yes! There is a parking lot right near the reception site with additional overflow parking near the ranch entrance.
There is limited WiFi available on the ranch. The Lodge offers the best connection, and some cabins have WiFi while others do not. Cell service can also be spotty in the area. If you want entertainment for downtime, consider downloading music, podcasts, or shows ahead of time. Otherwise, take this opportunity to unplug and enjoy quality time with friends and family surrounded by the mountains!
