Join our Facebook group for more details on the planned outings! In short, the plan is as follows: Wednesday, July 6th - Tour of Stockholm's top attractions. Thursday, July 7th - Tour of Djurgården. Friday, July 8th - Outing to Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago. Changes may be made depending on weather etc.
The oldest part of Stockholm and a must-see! Very quaint with lots of narrow alleys (take a walk up Mårten Trotsig Gränd--Stockholm's narrowest street) and small shops selling souvenirs. This is also where the Royal Palace is located.
Known for its cool (hipster) vibe, great nightlife and bars/restaurants/cafes. Nytorget is a great place to go for food, Tantolunden, with its idyllic garden cottages, is a nice area for a walk, and Fjällgatan observation deck is a great place to watch the sunset over the city!
The City Hall is worth a visit! Whether you choose to go inside or not, the views are still nice!
You can get to Djurgården by bus or tram, or by taking the SL ferry from Slussen (pay as you would on any other mode of public transport). Djurgården is very green with lovely walking opportunities, but also offers other fun activities like the amusement park Gröna Lund (check their website for live concerts) and Skansen Zoo and Museum. We also recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Rosendals Garden Café while you're there!
One of the best things (in our unbiased opinion) about Stockholm is the archipelago! It is only a short boat ride away and we highly recommend taking a day to see one of the islands. Some easily accessible destinations are Vaxholm, Grinda, Finnhamn, and Sandhamn, to name a few.
Oh gosh, where do we start...and end!? Want to see the midnight sun? Head up to northern Sweden, to Abisko for instance. Or explore the old medieval town of Visby on the island of Gotland. Or why not take a trip to see the Norwegian fjords? Or for any Outlander fans, Scotland is a mere 2-hour flight away! At this point you might as well take a trip to Paris, or Rome, or South East Asia... Before you know it, 10 years will have gone by--trust us, we know ;)
