The chuppah is the wedding canopy under which Dan and Tova will stand for the wedding ceremony itself. It symbolizes the home they will build together, and is figuratively inaugurated in the midst of the community of family and friends.
Both! Our venue building is air conditioned, and we hope to enjoy good weather and use the beautiful outdoor spaces as well. The event will spread between indoors and outdoors, in order to support safer seating density. Lawn games (and especially the lawn darts) will be outside. If weather does not permit, we will not have lawn darts.
Lunch will be kosher and dairy, including fish and fully vegetarian foods. Hors d'ouevres will be passed, and lunch will be a buffet.
If you understand this, please reach out to Dan. The re-scheduled event is on the 25th of Tammuz, and not yet in the month of Av; Sefardi custom is to reduce joy beginning on 1 Av, while Ashkenazi minhag is to begin on the 17th of Tammuz. Dan is going to aim for a siyyum at the event, likely on Yoma, a few days earlier than the Daf Yomi cycle, to make a siyyum. If none of this makes any more sense to you than if it were written in Babylonian Aramaic, then you shouldn't be worried about it!
This is a constantly moving target and we will update this as we can. Our priority is to keep our gathering from being a spreader event. We will work with reduced capacity at the venue's indoor facility and supplement with outdoor/tent seating to ensure grouping and distancing. We hope that if you are two weeks past your ultimate vaccine, you will feel comfortable attending. If you are bringing a young person not eligible for vaccination, please let us know so that we can try to make the best seating choices.
