We officially met at work around November 2015. We bumped into each other in the hallway. I was limping with a sprained calf and ankle. We talked a bunch and he even offered a leg massage (a bit forward much). He sure did make me laugh a lot. He asked me out for dinner, and he did not take "no" for an answer. I thought to myself, "persistence" looks charming on him. It all went uphill from there!
On the eve before our anniversary of the first date, he planned a surprise proposal at the Escape Game. For full disclosure, he planned it so well that I had literally no idea. We met his family in the evening at an Escape Game in downtown Austin. Escape Games have been our thing in the past, and we've always enjoyed our time playing the games. On that evening, I remember we had so much fun running around and figuring out the clues as a team. A lot of thrill and excitement, if you can imagine! We stumbled upon the last key with seconds left on the clock! We found a box in which key belongs to, and EVERYONE was telling me to take the key! I grabbed it and realized, didn't we open all the clues? Jake swiftly walked over to me and he told me there was a note in the box where I had found the key. With only 40 SECONDS left on the clock, I took the note and read it out load, "Congratulations, You have won the game and my heart. Will you marry me?" I looked up and he was down on one knee holding out a ring! All of a sudden, the door next to us opened, and he my parents walked in (another surprise!). I can feel my heart skip a beat... at that moment, I was finally aware of what was going on... I said, "YES, Of course!". That is how I walked out of the escape room ENGAGED! I felt so blessed to have his family and mine together on this special night of our lives. We are very excited to share and celebrate this next big chapter and adventure with you.. See you in ATX!
