You may have noticed some of our flavors lie outside the realm of the ordinary. There’s our Loganberry Wit, with that Crystal Beach and Aunt Rosie’s flavors we all remember from childhood; our vanilla cappuccino pumpkin ale that’s reminiscent of a nice, spiced pie; and we can’t forget our Sponge Candy Stout, made with real sponge candy from Watson’s. Our brewers are creative guys, and they love playing with tastes to see what translates from plate to pint. That’s where our experimental brews come from, many of which become favorites. Sometimes we discover a hit, sometimes we head back to the drawing board. So let us know if you love one of our one-offs. It just may make it to our year-round menu.
After completion of the Erie Canal in early 1800's, many Irish workers who built "Clinton's Ditch" settled in Buffalo. The area historically known as the First Ward became home to these hearty pioneers who worked in the nearby grain elevators and manned the many Lake Erie frieghters which docked only blocks away. Nestled among industrial buildings, multi-family homes and a network of railroad tracks is Gene McCarthy’s Tavern (73 Hamburg Street). McCarthy's is still a favorite of grain workers (General Mills), fire fighters, police and politicians. When the breeze shifts in the right direction, the warm smell of roasting Cheerios engulfs the neighborhood. Watch-out of the "live" train tracks only feet away from the front door!
Along Abbott Road in South Buffalo, the “Smitty wing” rules the roost. Doc Sullivan’s Pub serves this born-in-the-neighborhood take on the wing, which mixes a half-dozen spices into a traditional hot sauce. “Smitty” is a nod to the pub’s previous name and the Smith family who ran it; the secret recipe has been passed down through generations of ownership for the last 40 years. “Smitty” hot, medium and mild replace the typical flavor scale found at most restaurants. The result is a perfectly crispy, saucy wing with a full-bodied flavor.
Most people know it’s Italian slang, but ‘Bada Bing’ is just used to explain or describe the unexplainable. It would be like saying “yada yada yada blah blah blah” or “whatchamacallit.” Over the years, we’ve grown, matured, and evolved from a bar in the college district to a friendly, comfortable, and relaxing restaurant in the entertainment district. The Bing serves up drinks and delicious food for lunch, dinner, and late night. You won’t walk in and see sports memorabilia or photos of Italian gangsters, but you will see every live sporting event (even pay per view) playing on our 30+ HDTVs throughout the restaurant, bar, upstairs dining room and upstairs banquet room. Come and join us, and take a look for yourself.
Buffalo RiverWorks the city’s newest premier waterfront, boating, sports, music and entertainment destination located along the banks of the Buffalo River.
Sinatra & Company Real Estate turned the former Perfetto’s space in the Market Arcade complex into an upscale downtown food hall in direct response to the local community's growing interest in food culture, craft beverages, and communal gathering places. The food hall is called EXPO—a nod to the Pan-American Exposition in 1901 and a declaration that the City of Buffalo is embarking on a new golden era.

It was in 1969 that the local tavern known simply as Duff’s served up their first batch of chicken wings. Selling nearly 20 pounds of wings a week, Duff’s began to create a name for itself and a reputation for having the best wings in Buffalo. It was around 1985 that it was established that Duff’s wings were indeed famous, and the name became official. Duff’s Famous Wings in Amherst, New York still operates in the same original location. Duff’s Famous Wings restaurants put the same tradition into making every batch of authentic Buffalo wings; the same tradition that was used when Louise introduced the wings in 1969.
At Lafayette Brewing Company, we are dedicated to great beer, great food and lots of fun! With our recently re-vamped pub menu, we know everyone will find something to love. A must see is our newly installed “bar-cade” complete with pinball machines, billiards, darts, foosball and shuffleboard. We brew our beers on site in a 15 barrel brewhouse located directly below the main bar in the basement. Starting from the grain silo in our back parking lot, our brewers are creating beer right here from water, barley, hops and yeast, sometimes spices and always passion. Stop in soon for a pint of the freshest beer you’ll find… Cheers!
