It was 2011. Kenzi was in law school, and Nick was on the verge of signing his military contract. They met. There was beer involved. Stuff didn't happen. Fast forward to 2014... Kenzi and Nick, both recently single [but Kenzi having recently moved back to New York], found themselves talking a LOT. Kenzi needed to head back to Michigan to pick up a few things from her ex-boyfriend's house, and Nick, being a gentleman, offered to take Kenzi out to dinner after that emotional afternoon. Kenzi made it clear that it was JUST a dinner and a beer, and that she was in no way ready to take on ANYTHING by way of a relationship. In November 2014, Nick ventured off to Buffalo for the first time where he was immediately thrust into the spotlight as Kenzi's date when she was set to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award from Daemen. There was another brewery involved, and as Nick was preparing to leave that Sunday morning, he referred to Kenzi as his "potential future girlfriend." Under the influence of Dayquil, Kenzi immediately said, "No. I'm not there yet." Nick persisted. December 2014 brought Kenzi to Michigan to be Nick's date for a wedding, and this time she was ready. As she stepped off the plane, she was wearing a shirt that said "Proud Navy Girlfriend." Nick was in disbelief, and it was decided right there at the airport that they were in a relationship. Nick deployed to Afghanistan in 2016, and returned in mid-2017. Kenzi was waiting for him in the airport when he got off the airplane, and he said at that moment he knew he wanted to marry her. At their post-deployment vacation in Walt Disney World, he dropped down on one knee in front of Cinderella's castle and proposed, starting their happily ever after in the happiest place on earth.
