Hike up Mt Sentinel! It's the one with the M on it, right in the heart of Missoula. You can go right up the switchback to the M itself. Or, if you want to go all the way to the top, our favorite access is from the Crazy Canyon Trailhead, up Pattee Canyon. You will be rewarded with the best view of Missoula and the surrounding mountains (see the above photo!) Click for more details on All Trails.
The Farmers Markets on Saturday morning are quite lovely. Go a bit earlier if you want to beat the crowds. Check out the Clark Fork Market in Caras Park from 8am-1pm.
Looking for a true hike to go on? Explore the Bitterroot Mountains, just south of Missoula and be amazed by the granite slabs and breath taking beauty. Check out either the Blodgett Canyon Trail, the Blodgett Overlook Trail, or the Bear Creek Overlook.
Looking to mountain bike while in Missoula? Trail run? More in town hiking options? There are tons of great options for biking, hiking and running. Rattle Snake Recreation Area, Blue Mountain Recreational Area, Pattee Canyon Recreation Area, Marshall Mountain (bike only) are all great places to explore! You can rent a bike in town at a number of shops, we like The Bicycle Hangar (https://www.bicycle-hangar.com/). Mountain Biking not your thing? Bike the paved Bitterroot Trail to Lolo, MT and get lunch at the Lolo Peak Brewery.
If you are hoping to visit Glacier National Park during your trip, you will need to make vehicle reservations in order to access most areas of the park during normal hours. Most reservations are released and available exactly 120 days prior to the date you are wanting to go (and they get scooped up quickly). Click on the link and go to Vehicle Reservations to see all the details. They also release a few day-of reservations at 7pm the night before on a rolling basis. The website has all the information you need.
Every Thursday night in the summer there is free live music in Caras Park, 5-9pm. It is a great spot to enjoy downtown Missoula, right by the Clark Fork River. You can get dinner at one of the food trucks and there are lots of beverage options. They also do music and food every Wednesday for lunch!
