Keoni set up for interviews at his families boba shop for the first time in 2016, a crisp summer afternoon in July. The place buzzed with nervous energy as the potential newest bobaristas waited for their turn for group interviews. Keoni's eyes landed on Tori, Her smile was as warm as the afternoon sun, and he felt an inexplicable pull towards her. Even mentioning to his friends and families about this girl who came to interview that day. Over the next few years, Keoni and Tori were never more than just coworkers, working with each other in passing, but nothing more. He admired her from a distance, never quite finding the courage to speak beyond the polite exchanges. Even seeing other people during the start of those 3 years working together. It wasn’t until they crossed paths again at Cal State Fullerton that their lives began to intertwine a little more closely. They’d wave at each other between classes, a shared recognition of something familiar but elusive. One day, during a casual chat, they discovered that they’d both been invited to go hang out with a mutual friend. This sparked more conversations, leading to casual outings. They explored hiking trails together, finding solace in nature and each other’s company. They attended concerts, sharing their favorite music and making new memories. Through these experiences, Keoni and Tori realized they had much in common. Their bond deepened, evolving from acquaintances to close friends. As time went on, their connection became undeniable, and they found themselves inseparable. Reflecting on their journey, Keoni and Tori often marveled at how their story began at a simple boba shop. It was there, amid the clinking of boba pots and the hum of the blender, that the universe had introduced them, we just had to wait for the right time. We had time to grow, mature, and learn what we wanted in partners. We were in the best and better versions of ourselves when we started dating in 2019.
