If the Truckee River is open (contingent upon lake water levels), you must float down. Rent a float, pack your cooler, and spend a few hours on a lazy river. Beware: prepare to “risk your life” for 5 minutes at the end. Obligatory river rum punch and nachos to celebrate at River Ranch.
Tori’s favorite Tahoe loop walk/hike: walk along the lake from Rubicon Trailhead or DJ Bliss, enjoy stunning views of the lake, including Emerald Bay if you decide to take a longer hike!
Enjoy a scenic bike ride from Tahoe City. Our favorite route is cycling along the Truckee River, through the meadows of Squaw Valley, ending with a cold beer in the Olympic Village at Palisades. It’s about 8 miles one way.
