Yes, yes, yes! Mexico is open, Cancun is open, and we are counting down the days until we can celebrate our love with each of you.
Our resort is one of the largest Karisma properties in Cancun. It is the last one to open due to capacity, there haven't been enough guests to warrant staffing, etc. We've been told as recently as Friday 9/18 that our resort will absolutely be open by the time of our travels and that we have nothing to worry about.
If Azul Riviera Cancun does not open by the time of our wedding, they will move our party to another comparable Karisma property in Cancun. We're going to be together on a beautiful beach- don't worry!
Mexico does not require guests to present negative COVID-19 test results to enter their country. The US-Mexico land border closure is expiring soon, and the DR recently rescinded their negative test requirement. With that said, even though we trust that all of our guests are kind and responsible humans that will not travel if they are symptomatic, have been exposed, or are at an increased risk of exposure due to any medical conditions, science tells us that asymptomatic carriers exist. For this reason, so that all of us can celebrate & dance & enjoy each other's company up close- we ask that each guest attending ensure they are COVID negative before arriving. We have recently used Vybe urgent care for testing after traveling and had a seamless experience. We would be happy to reimburse any and all guests for the self-pay cost of the test.
Karisma has actually received much recognition for enhanced safety measures. Read about it here: https://www.karismahotels.com/karisma-recognized-for-guest-safety-protocols
Currently the answer is no. We will update with more information as we learn it. You'll need a mask for all of your travel, so this shouldn't be a problem. All staff at the resort will be in masks.
We have recently traveled via air and felt secure the whole time. You'll be required to wear a mask for the entirety of your flight with the very brief exceptions for when you are consuming food/water. You also have to wear your mask in the airport. Flights will not be serving food or drinks unless you're in first class. When you board the plane, the flight attendants will provide you with a package that includes a water, those amazing airplane cookies, and a sanitizing wipe. It doesn't hurt to carry around extra hand sanitizer, though!
