Things To Do

Beach Day

A beach day is a must! Pack your swimsuit, sunscreen, and water shoes (many beaches can be rocky, especially when exploring quieter coves). There are two types of beaches: organized ones with sunbeds, umbrellas, and food/drink service (you’ll pay €5-40 for a chair depending on location and demand), and more natural, secluded spots where you’ll need to bring your own towel, snacks, and shade. These hidden gems often require a short hike to reach, but the crystal-clear waters are totally worth it. By law, all beaches in Greece are free, so you’re welcome to throw down a towel anywhere!

See Myrtos Beach

Myrtos is one of the most beautiful and famous beaches in the world—and for good reason. The views are absolutely breathtaking! The beach is quite rocky, so it's better suited for taking in the scenery than swimming.

Wander around Fiskardo

Once a quiet fishing village, Fiskardo is now one of Kefalonia’s most picturesque spots, known for its colorful Venetian buildings and lively waterfront. Unaffected by the 1953 earthquake, it’s a favorite for luxury yachts. Stroll through its charming streets, explore local boutiques, and enjoy fresh food at a seaside table with a front-row view of boats coming and going.

Explore Assos

Assos is a tiny, postcard-perfect village that’s well worth a visit. Colorful houses line the hillside, overlooking a quiet bay perfect for a swim. Grab lunch at a waterfront taverna, then take a stroll up to the Venetian castle for stunning views.

Melissani Cave

Said to be one of the island’s most unique and beautiful spots, this crystal-clear underground lake is best explored on a quick 10-minute boat ride. Visit in the afternoon for the best light or early to beat the crowds.

Visit a Winery

Kefalonia is known for Robola, a crisp, dry white wine with citrus and mineral notes—a must-try for any wine lover. The island has several wineries offering tastings and tours, many of which are just outside Argostoli, making for a perfect afternoon outing.

Go Olive Oil Tasting

Kefalonia is home to incredible local olive oils, produced from centuries-old groves using traditional methods. Visiting a local olive mill is a great way to see the process firsthand and sample the rich, golden oil for yourself.

Embrace the Slow Pace

Kefalonia is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Settle into a seaside taverna, order the freshest seafood, and let the afternoon unfold over good food and wine. Or grab a warm spanakopita from a local bakery and enjoy it with a view—no itinerary needed.
