For those of us coming from the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe is approximately a 3.5-4 hour drive from San Francisco. For those coming from afar and wishing to avoid several hours of driving, we'd recommend flying into Reno, NV which is only 45 minutes away by rental car. Shuttles can also be booked (in advance) with Ridebooker.com which will take you from Reno-Tahoe International Airport directly to Squaw Valley.
