The Rockhill Grille
Emily's favorite spot in downtown KC- we celebrated Emily passing her Security + exam here. The second floor has large windows to view the skyline, they serve local brews and rose on tap. The tator tots and smoked salmon spread are must order items!
The Blue Line
The Blue Line is where we first spent time together outside of volleyball. We also celebrated the Blues Stanley Cup victory here. This is Kansas City's only hockey bar and has fantastic buffalo chicken mac and cheese.
Freestyle Poké
Emily's favorite fast-casual restaurant, ever. Tommy will sometimes gift her poke "just because" and brought her poke for her 28th birthday when they watched the Chiefs/Raiders MNF game. The entire menu is gluten free/dairy free and all the fish is over-nighted directly from the fisheries! They serve locally made kombucha and a variety of health drinks. Try the Best Bowl with forbidden rice and raw ahi tossed in truffle ponzu, topped with sriracha mayo!
Anthony's
This was the restaurant where our parents first met. It will always be special to us. Great Italian food, lots of Kansas City history!
Majestic
We came here for Tommy's 30th birthday! The Majestic is full of KC history- in 1911 the Pendergast brothers opened the saloon and it thrived during prohibition. There is live jazz music, and nightly memberships to the underground cigar club are available if you're interested in a post dinner cigar and drink!
Cosentino's Market
We LOVE Cosentino's Market. This is our favorite date night. This is downtown's only grocery store, and they have a fantastic food court with upscale versions of comfort food. You can get everything from salads, fried chicken, gyros, to gourmet pastries and chocolates. We have great memories taking Tommy's dad here for dinner one Sunday night.
Gram & Dun
The first time we had dinner with Emily's parents was at Gram and Dun. Tommy loves the hangar steak and Emily always orders the gnocchi! A perfect spot while visiting KC.
Char Bar
Fantastic BBQ and tons of yard games! Tommy took Emily here the first weekend he introduced her to his friends from STL.
HopCat
Great spot for appetizers and drinks between the ceremony and the reception! Excellent "crack fries". Guests interested in the secret, underground Tiki Bar can make reservations at Tiki Cat- highly recommended!
O’Dowd’s Gastrobar
Excellent spot with a great rooftop on the Plaza. Ideal for post -ceremony snacks and drinks!
Boulevard Brewing Company
Perfect stop for guests in-between the ceremony and reception! The brewery overlooks downtown, and a 45 minute tour is only $5 and ends with a beer tasting!
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Beautiful, free, a MUST VISIT while in KC.
