Petit Jean State Park

Petit Jean State Park is an Arkansas classic: a natural and historic treasure that has welcomed travelers for decades. The natural beauty and ancient geology of the legendary Petit Jean Mountain inspired the creation of Arkansas’ first state park and our state park system. The park mirrors the mountain’s rugged beauty with its rustic-style, native log and stone facilities constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s. Historic Mather Lodge overlooks Cedar Creek Canyon with 24 guest rooms, a restaurant, swimming pool, meeting rooms and a gift shop. Near the lodge are 33 cabins (21 with kitchens) located along the bluff with views of the canyon. Guests can enjoy picnic areas, playgrounds, pavilions, tennis courts and an amphitheater. Upstream is Lake Bailey with 100 acres for fishing, kayaking and pedal boating. A summer boathouse offers a snack bar, boat rentals and supplies. Nearby are a public swimming pool, 125 park campsites (35 Class AAA and 90 Class B), group camping and four Rent-AYurts. The park also has an airport (call 501-374-5022 for information). Hiking trails lead to the spectacular 95-foot Cedar Falls, Seven Hollows and distinctive features such as Bear Cave, the Grotto and Natural Bridge. Petit Jean State Park Airport

Petit Jean is Arkansas' only state park with its own airport. Aviation enthusiasts are invited to enjoy the airport’s fly-in campground which features five tent sites with water and electric hookups, picnic tables, grills, lantern holders, and tent pads. One site is barrier-free to accommodate visitors with disabilities. This Arkansas camping site includes a modern bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets.
