Most couples meet through mutual friends or through a dating app. Tomás and Leah met through the whims of social media. In October 2022, Leah's aunt came across one of Tomás's piano videos on Instagram and sent it to Leah, thinking she would like it. Leah liked some of his videos on Instagram and left a sweet comment. Tomás had no idea who she was, especially since her account was private to non-followers. But he was curious about her, so he added her on Instagram, and she added him back. When he saw her profile, he knew he had to reach out! We connected quickly and easily over our shared taste in music, our faith, and our values. But Leah lived in Houston, and Tomás had just moved up to Denton for his Master's degree. We knew starting a new romance almost 300 miles away from each other was a long shot, but we couldn't get enough of each other in our voice messages back and forth. So Tomás scheduled a meet-up in Houston over Thanksgiving break, when he'd be able to drive down for a visit. We first met November 23, 2022 at Puttery Houston, an elegant mini-golf and cocktail lounge. Our connection was so undeniable that we shared our first kiss that very night before parting ways. We knew we had to see each other before Tomás went back up to Denton, so we scheduled a dinner date 3 nights later. Leah introduced Tomás to her family after dinner, and then he took the long drive back up. We didn't see each other again until 3 weeks later, when Tomás came back in town for Winter Break. That night we decided to make our relationship official since the time apart had only made us more sure we wanted to be together. Since then, we have become inseparable, even though we only get to see each other once or twice a month. In the year and a half we've been together, we've become firmly convinced we want to spend the rest of our lives together. So Tomás asked her to be his wife on June 8, 2024, and we are so excited to get married on August 11. See you soon!
