In August 2021, Lillie and Marissa were supposed to go to Madrid, Spain, but wound up going to Rome due to some last minute flight issues. Meanwhile, Tom decided to join his best friend Rhys (“Faz”) on a last minute trip to Rome. After going their first night in Rome, two slightly red Brits struggling with the Italian summer heat returned to the appropriately named “Ice Club” (with the walls, seating, and bar itself made from ice). Meanwhile, Lillie found a really cool (pun intended) bar that would finally have air conditioning. Once inside, Faz spotted Marissa waiting in line for a drink, Faz, feeling very confident after several limencellos, decided he would go up and speak to her, leaving Tom with two other Brits they’d met earlier in the night. As Tom went to the bathroom, Lillie found the same British couple in that bar and struck up a conversation while she waited for Marissa to come back from the bar. Then Tom arrived back from the bathroom and got speaking to Lillie for the first time. He asked her who she was here with, she pointed over to Marissa and kindly mentioned she was having her ear chewed off by some idiot trying to chat her up. She asked who Tom was here with and he pointed out the slightly tipsy, yet charming, young man trying to chat up her friend. They shared stories and danced through the night, meeting a range of different characters along the way. Tom and Faz walked Lillie and Marissa home (somehow the 20 minute walk turned into an hour.) After plenty of persuasion, Lillie and Marissa agreed to meet Tom and Faz at an Irish pub the next night and the rest is history.

Despite Tom's lackluster attempt at measuring Lillie’s ring size by ordering the ring in his size and hoping they had similar size hands, the ring never left Tom's side. After spending Christmas with the Weavers' and trying to hide the ring from his soon-to-be fiancé, Tom and Lillie flew back to England for new years celebrations. Lillie suggested they stay in London for a night to enjoy the Christmas markets a little longer, to which Tom sheepishly admitted he’d already got a hotel booked. They arrived back in London with Lillie well rested from her sleep in the first class seat... while Tom hadn’t slept a wink sitting next to her thinking of his plan for the day ahead. They checked into a lovely hotel room (slightly different to the normal Premier Inn they book on their adventures) with Lillie definitely starting to smell something was up. Tom took Lillie to a beautiful old pub where they shared a few drinks. Tom sat there cool, calm, and collected... or at least that’s how he remembers it. They then went for a walk as the sun set into a private Japanese Zen garden near Kensington Palace, where Tom got down on one knee and asked Lillie to marry him. Against everyone's guesses, she said yes!
