Dublin Airport

North of Dublin City on the east coast Dublin serves as the main airport in Ireland, but most trans-Atlantic carriers that fly to Dublin, the capital, also fly to Shannon on the western side of the island. Dublin's bigger size often means it has cheaper fares. Ireland's flagship carrier Aer Lingus flies to both, and has non-stop service between Dublin and 10 U.S. cities from coast to coast.

(Aerphort Dhún Na nGall) (CFN) If you do not want to travel from Dublin to Donegal via car/bus/train, there is the option to fly into Donegal. There is no direct flight from the US to Donegal, so likely you would connect in Dublin then fly to Donegal. The Dublin>Donegal flight is about 55 minutes long.

Per our wedding coordinator, the bus is the next best and quickest option for traveling between Dublin airport and Donegal (renting a car or hiring a driver being the quickest and most comfortable option). It looks like it takes an average of 3.5 to 4 hours to travel via bus.

Note about purchasing a Rental car

*** From our experience so far, we suggest purchasing a rental car prior to traveling. However, we also suggest NOT purchasing your rental car with your flight. We have noticed the price is significantly cheaper when purchasing the rental car separate from the flight.
